Long Covid, POTS, and Restricted Lung Disease - Rehab Update

Hey everyone!  It's taken a little longer to post than I would have liked. We had a couple colds and the stomach flu plague our house last month and I'm just not starting to feel more human. So a lot has happened since my last post. My primary doctor figured out that I had covid at some point. I've always felt like this is why all my symptoms and everything got worse but I didn't have proof. If I had to pinpoint when I got covid it was in March of 2020. That's pretty much when things went downhill. If you've had covid or think you might have had covid and are having crazy symptoms I implore you to look into dysautonomia. It might be a huge piece of the puzzle you are missing. I was diagnosed with POTS which is a form of dysautonomia and by bringing my HR down to a more reasonable level the brain fog lifted and I've felt much better. I still fight hypertension 10-14 days a month but I was fighting issues 100% of the time. I was just glad to get somewhat of a

Pulmonary Rehab

Hey everyone! I've been thinking about the different ways I can take my blog. Since my life has slightly changed in the past couple of years I think I'm going to start doing maybe some movie reviews or something like that. So stay tuned for that. I think I'm also going to start documenting my pulmonary rehab so here it goes.  So my first day of rehab wasn't too bad. I got to work out for 15 minutes on a Nuway recumbent step bike. I really like it a lot more than the regular recumbent pedal bike I have at home. After 15 minutes, we went to another room for education purposes. We got to learn about the different types of inhalers. I already knew quite a bit about them but there were a few key takeaways. Using a spacer is much more efficient. Then the next day my body decided to be what I like to call potsie(my Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrom for those of you new here). It was Friday so my family and I decided to travel about an hour to another town because they h

Living with Chronic Illness(POTS/Dysautonomia & Restricted Lung Disease) & General Life Updates!

It's been a while huh? I just went through the worst couple of years of my life. Gosh, I really think I could write a novel but that's not really my thing. Haven't even done a great job of keeping up on this blog. So I'm not going to make some promise that I'll be posting more but what I can promise is that when inspiration sparks me I'll be here to let you all know. I can also say I finally officially bought my own domains so if you ever want to get right back to this blog just type in totallyjen.com or totallyjen.xyz . I actually found out the hard way Facebook doesn't allow for .xyz domains which is just silly but that's a rant for another day. So first let me tell you where you can find me at: Facebook Twitter Instagram YouTube - I don't use this one as often. I haven't really gotten much into video blogs but who knows maybe? I guess stay tuned.  Okay, now that we've got that out of the way. If I had to guess why you've clicked on t

In case you want to know

Tonight I woke up from a bad dream, and as I sat here thinking about it and what it means to me. I realize just how amazing my career has been. I started working when I was just 14 years old at the Airport Steakhouse. I was there for about 7-8 years, and I did anything from cashiering, bussing, and waitressing. After I graduated high school, it wasn't uncommon for me to work 2-3 part-time jobs at once. I've also worked at Kansas Splashdown, Applebees, Lone Star, JcPennys, newspaper carrier, Tupperware Consultant, and Go Calendars. I'm hard working and extremely dedicated in all endeavors. So much so that my newspaper carrier job opened the doors to one of my most influential career opportunities. I ended up giving up my paper route because my car broke down. A few months later, I was called and offered a job as Assistant District Manager. I would later go on to be part-time Subscriber Service Rep(SSR) to full-time and eventually Lead SSR. When management changes happened,

Made it to March!!!

It's hard to believe I finally made it to March. It seems like it was just yesterday that I was finding out we were going to have a baby. Now I'm anxiously awaiting his arrival. I don't want him to come too early, but I sure can't wait to see his cute little face! We have pretty much everything ready to go besides needing to pick up some diapers. I'd like to get some additional bottles too, but I have enough of the little bottles to get by for now. I kind of want to go to Costco and price their diapers but at this point, I don't think I want to travel an hour for diapers. So looks like I'll be going with the Up & Up brand at Target like I did with Alex. Let's just hope the quality is still the same. They used to be a lot like Pampers, and I loved Pampers for Alex. They just cost so much more than Up & Up. The best part is I can have them auto shipped for a discount AND I also get 5% for using my Redcard so I say WINNING! I could probably spen

It's February!

Hey everyone! Totally Jen here and thought it would be a good idea to at least make a new post for February. Time seems to be flying by already. Next thing I know it's going to be January 2020... There's been a lot of emotions for the last few weeks. I'm guessing it's due to my hormones and the weekly shot I have to get to prevent preterm labor. Plus all the stress of a high-risk pregnancy. Poor Bryan! Speaking of pregnancy, so far everything is looking really good. I just got another biophysical profile done today and Ethan passed with flying colors. Next week, we get to see measurements and make sure he is on track. For those of you who are not aware when you have diabetes in pregnancy a high birth weight is common. Last time they checked he was spot on and for the most part, my blood sugars have mostly been in check. So I'm thinking everything should be on track. I've really been biting at the bit to get everything all ready for Ethan but at the same ti

It's been a year?!?!?

I totally can't believe it's been an entire year since I made my last blog post. I did create my FB Totally Jen page and have been posting short updates on that! Please go out and like my page for the most current updates and inspirations  https://www.facebook.com/TotallyJenH/ . So let's see to get this blog updated real quick... I found out I was pregnant in July of 2018, and we are expecting our little boy Ethan James about mid-March. The original due date is March 31st, however, due to complications with the pregnancy and prior issues the doctor wants to go at least 2 weeks early. Wish me luck as I head into the home stretch! We've almost lived in our house for a whole year, and we love it! The holidays were so nice having all the extra space for friends and family. We have added two new additions to our household. The first one is Sadie our standard poodle. She is very pretty and full of energy. She's been giving me a run for my money that's for sure.
